Sage Line 50 Quickbooks
Ease of installation Good Good
Ease of inputting data Good Good
Ease of use Could be difficult in past, but new release seems to be written with charities in mind. Flexible and easy to accommodate complex structures.
Reporting features Older versions of Sage could be difficult to generate desired reports, but the new release appears to be much improved. Very good. Particularly easy to tailor individual reports to the required formats.
Monitoring funds and projects Significant improvements in new version. Very flexible both for individual projects and restricted funds.
Ease of forecasting and budgeting Not always easy to tailor to specific requirements. Good and very flexible.
Integrity of data Excellent controls, particularly suitable for larger charities. Allows entries to be changed retrospectively, a potential weakness for large organisations.
Ease of producing year end reports Good Good
Special training needed? Can be used without training but we would always recommend support to get the most out of the system. Again, can be used 'straight out of the box' but training would help get more from it.
Value for money More expensive, but more features. Overall good value and a number of packages/prices
